Karen Buswell is a designer with more than 25 years experience. Over that time she has been involved in a wide range of design disciples from various forms of product design through to interiors and project management. She has a very creative mind and is an ideas person.
Karen has enjoyed a long career with Mulberry and Highgrove as well as designing for private clients and hotels around the world. Throughout all her designs she strives to design and produce beautiful, well constructed and fully functional products or spaces, always ensuring great attention to detail.
As a hand’s on designer, Karen also likes to make products herself which can be seen here, in her range of leather goods. Each piece is hand stitched and unique. Karen’s love of design and quirky inspiration is seen in the playful details, unusual finds and original form, making no two bags truly identical. Her ethos lies in the love of quality materials, craftsmanship and the pleasure of the labour involved in an object of art.
Being such a practical designer has given Karen huge amounts of knowledge about many forms of manufacturing either from her own direct experience or having worked very closely with manufacturers over the years. She firmly believes that to design well you have to understand the properties of the different materials.
She is becoming more and more interested in researching viable sustainable and recycled materials and collaborating with different people and companies to design beautiful products in a more viable and responsible way.
